Summer Term Reception

This half term we are going to be looking at traditional tales in school.  We will start with The Little Red Hen, retelling the story, making story maps, acting out the story and baking our own bread.  We will then look at stories such as the Gingerbread Man, Little Red Hen and Jack and the Beanstalk.

The children are growing their own pea plants in the garden, they have now started to shoot and to grow some leaves.

In maths we will be starting to look at subtraction and writing takeaway number sentences eg. 7-3=4.  We will also be starting to play with 3D shapes and begin to learn the names of them and some of their properties.

In class we have just set up a new dough area and a craft station for the children to explore different materials.
