Welcome to Class Six!

We hope you all had an excellent Easter holiday and managed to have plenty of time to rest and relax without too much chocolate! We look forward to welcoming you back to get started on the summer term which is full of exciting events.

Our theme for this spring term is:

"Can we Change the World?: Hopes and Dreams?"

In our English we will be using the text, 'Manfish' by Jennifer Berne. This text focuses on the story of Jacques Cousteau and we dive into the adventure of discovering everything under the sea. We follow his story and we will write our own information text on his life and work. In Science lessons our topic is 'Electricity' and we will be creating a wide variety of electrical circuits. In this first half term we are switching back to history where we will discover the magnificent Shang Dynasty and touching on why 'Dragon Bones' were so important to them.

We have a number of important dates as well this term, two of the main ones being:

SATs week: May 9th - 12th

Castlerigg: June 20th - 24th

I am sure we will have an amazing term and always remember, if you have any questions or queries, you can always email the class email address below.

Many thanks for your support. Continue to stay safe and smile!

Our class webpage will be updated throughout the year to inform you of any important information and changes.

P.E. in Class Six will take place on a Tuesday and a Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit. Your child can wear their school jumper or cardigan as well as a coat over the top of their P.E. kit. In cold weather please allow your child to wear tracksuit bottoms if needed. If your child suffers from veruccas please ensure they have pumps or it is covered up adequately if the P.E. session is indoors as trainers and socks will be taken off.

Homework in Class Six will take place throughout the week. Children are also expected to read and we suggest at least 10 minutes a day if at all possible.

Castlerigg cookies are available every Wednesday morning break time for 40 pence. If your child would like to purchase any of these items they should bring in the required money on each day and keep it safely in their tray.

We look forward to an amazing year in Class Six! If you have any questions, concerns or require any further information please ask, our door is always open.
