Happy New Year Reception

Happy New Year to all of our children and parents, best wishes for 2018.  We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and break.

This half term our topic is going to be the Hungry Caterpillar.  We will be looking at sequencing the story and the life cycle of the butterfly.  In maths the children will continue to work on number recognition of numbers 11-20 and will begin to look at weight.  They will use the balance scales to weigh objects and sort objects into heavy and light groups.  The children will start to use their phonic skills to begin to spell out words and to record them.  We will be making our own caterpillars and butterflies in the junk modelling area.  In the garden we will be looking at the wildlife and seeing what minibeasts we can find.

This half term we look at being healthy and what this means talking about keeping fit and healthy eating.  The children will get to help make their own healthy snacks for snack time.
