Reception News 7.12.17

A big thank you to all of our parents for coming into school to watch the children during their phonic sessions.  We hoped you enjoyed seeing your child in class and this will be really beneficial at home when supporting your child with their reading and homework.

The children have been enjoying practising all of the songs for the Nativity with Class 1 and 2.  They have been learning about the Christmas story and the birth of baby Jesus.  The children have helped to make the class Advent wreath.

In class we have a post office area for the children to write their own cards and weigh the parcels.  They have enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree and helping to wrap presents.  The children have really enjoyed making salt dough decorations for the Christmas tree.  They will also be making a Christmas calendar and Christmas cards.

In maths we have been doing lots of measuring and looking at objects that are taller and shorted than ourselves.  The children have been ordering objects by size and measuring objects with unifix cubes.  The children have been doing phonics daily and practising writing their letters.
