Our Patron Saint

St Jerome

Saint Jerome is primarily known for his translation of the Bible into Latin, which became known as the Vulgate, and for his contributions to biblical scholarship and Christian theology. He is considered a Doctor of the Church and is the patron saint of translators, librarians, and scholars.

We celebrate his feast day on 30th September when Class Three lead the school and the parish in a service which celebrates his life and they share the story of how he looked after and cared for an injured lion. The story goes that St Jerome met the lion when it was roaring with pain because a thorn had stuck in its paw.St Jerome pulled the thorn out and the lion was so grateful that it became his companion.
