SEND Provision at St. Jerome's Catholic Primary School

At St. Jerome's Catholic Primary School we value every child's right to a broad and balanced education to enable them to achieve their full potential.

We follow the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) principles for supporting our SEND children. This involves:

  • Creating a positive and supportive environment for all pupils. We aim to remove barriers to learning and participation by providing an education that is appropriate to children's needs.

  • Building an ongoing, holistic understanding of our children and their needs. We use the graduated approach of 'assess, plan, do, review'. (See link below)

  • Ensuring all children have access to high quality teaching. This involves flexible grouping, cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies, explicit instruction and scaffolding.

  • Complementing high quality teaching with carefully selected small groups and one to one interventions. Interventions are carefully targeted through identification of assessment of need.

  • Working effectively with teaching assistants to ensure a positive impact on children with SEND

At St. Jerome's Catholic Primary School we recognise that effectively supporting children with SEND requires everyone working together. By fostering a culture that SEND is everyone's responsibility, we can ensure that the child is always at the centre of all decisions.

At St. Jerome's Catholic Primary School, our SENDCO is Mrs K Buckley. She can be contacted via the school office.
